GUIDE
Clarify what you are buying
A membrane manufacturer supplies separation elements and their technical data. An equipment supplier integrates pumps, vessels, controls, instrumentation and cleaning arrangements. A process provider also evaluates the feed, separation objective and integration with upstream and downstream operations. Establish which responsibilities your project requires.
Ask for evidence relevant to your feed
A catalogue cut-off or high initial flux is not enough to demonstrate product yield or stable operation. Discuss sample testing, pretreatment, concentration limits, impurity passage, fouling and cleaning recovery. Relevant project experience can help frame questions, but a previous installation is not a performance guarantee for a different feed.
Compare the complete scope
For replacement elements, check dimensions, materials and compatibility with the existing system. For a new process, examine the test plan, engineering scope, commissioning support and operating requirements. Evaluate lifecycle costs and downstream effects alongside the initial price.
Provide feed composition, capacity, temperature, pH, viscosity, solids and desired product specifications. Agree on measurable trial objectives before selecting a membrane and requesting the final system proposal.
