Membrane selection FAQ

A practical starting point for membrane products, validation and engineering scale-up.

Before you select a membrane

Every reliable process begins with real feed information.

Talk to an engineer
01How do I know if my feed is suitable for membrane separation?

We review composition, solvent system, target molecular weight, temperature, viscosity, solids and the existing process, followed by feed analysis and bench screening.

02Which project stages can DoisTec support?

Support spans requirement analysis, membrane screening, bench validation, process design, system integration, commissioning and operation.

03How should organic and inorganic membranes be selected?

Selection depends on cut-off, media compatibility, temperature, cleaning conditions and lifetime requirements. Complex duties require experimental validation.

04Where is solvent-resistant nanofiltration used?

Typical uses include pharmaceutical concentration, coating purification, valuable solvent recovery and molecular separation in non-aqueous systems.

05How long does scale-up take?

Timing depends on feed complexity, target performance and site constraints. A staged validation plan follows once data and samples are available.

06How are membrane systems cleaned and maintained?

Cleaning combines rinsing, chemistry and scheduled maintenance based on foulant type, with flux, pressure drop and rejection used as indicators.

07Are pilot equipment and membrane samples available?

We can recommend ceramic or spiral-wound pilot configurations and support membrane screening and validation.

08How can I start a project inquiry?
