An element and a complete system solve different needs

A membrane element provides the selective barrier. A nanofiltration system supplies the circulation, pressure, monitoring, control and cleaning functions that let the element operate. Buying an element is appropriate for a compatible replacement or an existing test platform; a new industrial process also needs engineering design.

Define the equipment and process responsibilities

System selection includes pumps, vessels, wetted materials, seals, pressure and flow measurement, control logic, cleaning arrangements and concentrate handling. Membrane cut-off alone does not determine these requirements. A process provider additionally considers pretreatment, product recovery and the link to upstream and downstream steps.

Follow a measured selection sequence

Begin with the feed and desired separation. Screen suitable membranes, then measure sustained flux, product yield, concentration limits and cleaning recovery. Use these results to establish membrane area, hydraulic conditions and equipment configuration.

For an existing installation, confirm element dimensions, chemistry and operating limits before replacement. For a new installation, agree on trial objectives, engineering boundaries, commissioning and operating support. This makes quotations comparable and reduces the risk of selecting equipment before the separation route is established.
